  • Equipment you will need:

    • 1 L container
    • 2 cup (1.5 lbs) clean play sand
    • 1/2 cup cornstarch
    • 2 tbsp baking powder
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 3 tbsp dish soap
    • 2 tbsp water-based paint

    Directions:

    1. Place sand, cornstarch, and baking powder into a container.
    2. Combine water, dish soap and paint.
    3. Slowly add water mixture, 1 tbsp at a time, to sand mixture until sand mixture starts to stick together. If you add too much water, allow to dry slightly before playing.

Tip: We used tempera paints for the water-based paints in this project. If you don’t want to use paint, replace the amount with water. When finished playing with the sensory sand, allow it to fully dry and dispose of in the garbage.
