Banana Boats

We took this popular kid-friendly campfire treat and cooked it on the barbecue.  Made with just 3 simple ingredients, it is a quick and delicious dessert sure to become a family favourite.

Banana Boats

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 10 mini-marshmallows
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat natural gas barbecue on medium heat for 10 - 15 minutes.
  2. Cut banana lengthwise down the center, just through the top peel and making sure to not cut through peel on the other side; carefully open the banana peel.
  3. Place banana cut side up on a piece of aluminum foil. Fill opening in banana with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.
  4. Wrap foil around banana, seal foil firmly and place on barbecue grid. Cook until banana is tender and chocolate and marshmallows have melted, about 15 minutes.
  5. Open foil carefully and allow to cool slightly before eating.

Tip: Banana Boats can also be baked in a 400°F oven for 10 – 15 minutes.
