CHEDDAR DILL BISCUITS

Quick and easy, this savoury biscuit recipe goes great with chili or vegetable soups.

CHEDDAR DILL BISCUITS

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp dill weed
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped green onion
  • 3/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/3 cup milk (2%)

Directions

  1. Combine first 6 ingredients (flour through salt) in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Stir in cheese and green onion.
  4. Whisk together yogurt and milk until blended.
  5. Add yogurt mixture to flour mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead dough gently 5 times. Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Using a floured 2 inch cookie cutter, cut dough into rounds.
  8. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 400ºF for 15 - 17 minutes or until lightly browned.
