Glamburgers

Impress your guests with these amazing burgers, we glammed them up with the works, including grilled onions and a Basil Aioli.

Glamburgers

Ingredients

  • 2 lb (1 kg) lean ground beef
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup soft fresh bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp basil, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp oregano, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp thyme, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 6 large hamburger or kaiser buns
  • 6 lettuce leaves
  • 6 large tomato slices
  • 6 mozzarella cheese slices
  • Mustard Grilled Onions (recipe follows)
  • Basil Aioli (recipe follows)

Directions

  1. Combine beef, onions, bread crumbs, red wine, egg, parsley, salt, basil, oregano, thyme and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape mixture into 6 patties.
  3. Grill patties over medium heat on natural gas barbecue until completely cooked. Serve in buns with lettuce, tomato, cheese, Mustard Grilled Onions and Basil Aioli.

Mustard Grilled Onions

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup liquid honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp savory, crumbled

Yield: Makes about 1 cup

Directions

  1. Run 2 thin metal skewers parallel to each other through each onion slice, placing skewers about 1 inch apart. This will keep onion slices intact during grilling.
  2. In a bowl, combine melted butter, mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce and savory. Brush some of the melted butter mixture over onions.
  3. Grill onions over medium heat on natural gas barbecue, basting with remaining melted butter mixture, until onions are tender and golden brown, about 7 - 10 minutes. Turn once during cooking.

Basil Aioli

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper

Yield: Makes about 1/2 cup

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients until blended. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Serve with burgers or fish.
