HOT MUSHROOM DIP

This creamy hot dip is packed with cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms and loads of flavour. Serve it as a party appetizer with crackers and bread sticks.

Yield: Makes 2 1/2 cups.

HOT MUSHROOM DIP

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 8 oz (250 g) cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. Cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 2 tbsp of reserved drippings. Crumble bacon; set aside.
  2. Cook mushrooms, onion and garlic in reserved drippings until tender and most of liquid has evaporated, about 6 – 8 minutes.
  3. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
  4. Heat and stir until cheese is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream and bacon.
  5. Serve warm with assorted crackers or bread sticks. Do not freeze.
