ICED GINGER TEA

This big batch of iced green tea is a wonderful beverage to serve at summer patio parties. We infuse it with slices of fresh ginger.

Yield: Serves 10.

ICED GINGER TEA

Ingredients

  • 12 cups water
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 12 green tea bags
  • 6 cups ice cubes

Directions

  1. Combine water, ginger and sugar in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Add tea bags, cover and let stand for 3 minutes. Remove tea bags and ginger.
  4. Cool tea mixture to room temperature. Divide tea mixture between 2 large pitchers.
  5. Cover and refrigerate until serving. To serve, stir half of ice cubes into each pitcher.
