MULLED APPLE JUICE WITH GINGER
Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 12 cups apple juice
- 1 can (355 mL) frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
- 3/4 cup finely chopped crystallized ginger
- 3 cinnamon sticks, broken
- 1 tsp whole cloves
- 1/2 tsp whole allspice
Directions
- Using a vegetable peeler, remove coloured portion of peel from lemon in thin strips. Reserve lemon for another use. Combine lemon peel, apple juice, apple juice concentrate and ginger in a slow cooker.
- Combine cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice in a large tea ball or cheesecloth bag; add to juice mixture.
- Cover and cook on high heat setting until steaming and fragrant, about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Remove tea ball before serving.
