Kid-Friendly, One Pot, Cooking for a Crowd
SLOPPY JOES
Ingredients
1 tbsp oil
2 lb lean ground beef
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
1 1/4 cups ketchup
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
8 whole wheat kaiser buns, halved
Directions
Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add beef and onions. Cook, stirring to break up beef, until browned, about 7 - 10 minutes.
Drain off excess fat.
Stir in next 10 ingredients (ketchup through garlic powder). Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 7 - 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Spoon about 1/2 cup of beef mixture onto bottom half of each bun. Cover with top halves of buns.
